Privacy Policy – Lynx Connect
Effective date: 3 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Lynx ApS (“Lynx”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Lynx Connect consumer application.
This policy applies to the Lynx Connect Android application, package name com.lynxaps.connect, including the current Lynx Connect v1.16.6 consumer application.
Lynx Connect is designed primarily to provide vehicle information, diagnostics, manuals, owner guidance and read-only access to supported vehicle data.
1. Information stored on your device
Lynx Connect stores certain information locally on your device so that the app can remember your settings and provide its functions.
This may include:
- vehicle VIN and selected vehicle model;
- language and display preferences;
- optional name and email address entered by you;
- Bluetooth and adapter configuration;
- locally created service-case information;
- problem descriptions entered by you;
- vehicle diagnostic information associated with a locally created case;
- controller and firmware information;
- battery state of charge and fault information;
- technical session and connection logs;
- consent and feature preferences; and
- diagnostic reports or other information prepared for export.
Most of this information remains on your device unless you actively use a feature that sends information outside the device.
Removing the app or clearing its application data will normally remove information stored locally by Lynx Connect.
2. Vehicle and diagnostic data
When Lynx Connect is connected to a compatible Lynx adapter, the app may read technical information from the vehicle.
Depending on the supported vehicle and controller software, this may include information such as:
- VIN;
- vehicle model;
- controller and firmware versions;
- battery state of charge;
- active diagnostic faults;
- technical operating signals; and
- diagnostic and compatibility information.
The Lynx Connect consumer application is designed to be read-only at the vehicle-control boundary. It does not use this information for advertising or behavioural profiling.
3. Bluetooth permissions
Lynx Connect uses Bluetooth Low Energy (“BLE”) to communicate with a compatible Lynx Connect vehicle adapter.
On current Android versions, the app requests Bluetooth scanning permissions for this purpose and declares that Bluetooth scanning is not used to derive physical location.
On older Android versions, Android may require location-related permission in order to perform Bluetooth device discovery. Lynx Connect does not use these permissions to determine, track, store or transmit your physical location.
Lynx Connect does not perform GPS location tracking.
4. Optional Lynx Cloud and diagnostic transmission
Certain builds or configurations of Lynx Connect may provide optional Lynx Cloud diagnostic functionality.
These functions are not required for normal local use of the app.
If Lynx Cloud is configured and you actively use a cloud diagnostic function, or explicitly enable technical telemetry, information transmitted may include:
- VIN and vehicle model;
- Lynx adapter or device identifier;
- app and adapter firmware versions;
- timestamps;
- controller or ECU version information;
- battery state of charge;
- vehicle operating signals;
- drive-state information;
- diagnostic fault information; and
- technical diagnostic snapshots.
Technical telemetry is not transmitted merely because the app is installed. The telemetry function requires the relevant option to be enabled and a cloud service to be configured.
The app does not use cloud connectivity to enable advertising or location tracking.
5. Service cases and support
Lynx Connect can create diagnostic service cases locally.
A service case may contain information entered by you together with relevant vehicle information, such as your optional name and email address, VIN, vehicle model, problem description, diagnostic faults, battery information and controller or firmware information.
The app can also prepare diagnostic information for export as a file or for use in a support email.
When you choose Email Lynx, Lynx Connect opens your device’s email application with diagnostic information prepared for you. The email is not sent automatically by Lynx Connect. You remain in control of whether the email is sent.
Once an email is sent through your chosen email provider, that provider may process the email according to its own privacy policy.
The current consumer application may also allow you to select photos or videos when preparing a service case. Selection of a file does not by itself cause the media content to be uploaded automatically.
6. Technical logs and exported reports
Lynx Connect may maintain technical session information locally for troubleshooting.
Such logs can include connection events, Bluetooth adapter information, diagnostic messages and vehicle data observed during a session.
The app allows a user or tester to export certain diagnostic logs or reports manually. Exporting a report does not automatically send it to Lynx. You decide what happens to the exported file.
7. Advertising, analytics and tracking
Lynx Connect does not contain advertising functionality.
The current consumer application does not include third-party advertising or behavioural analytics functionality.
Lynx does not use information from Lynx Connect to create advertising profiles or to track users across unrelated apps or services.
We do not sell personal information collected through Lynx Connect.
8. App updates and Google Play
Android versions of Lynx Connect distributed through Google Play may use Google Play services to determine whether a newer version of Lynx Connect is available.
This update check is used only to inform the user that an update is available. Lynx Connect does not send your VIN, diagnostic reports, name or email address to Google for this purpose.
Google may independently process information associated with the use of Google Play according to Google’s own terms and privacy policies.
9. How we use information
Where information is transmitted to Lynx at your request or with your consent, we may use it to:
- provide vehicle-related support;
- investigate reported problems;
- understand diagnostic information;
- improve compatibility and reliability of Lynx Connect;
- improve vehicle support and technical documentation;
- maintain and secure Lynx services; and
- respond to your requests.
Optional technical telemetry is used for technical product and vehicle-support purposes and not for advertising.
10. Data sharing
Lynx does not sell Lynx Connect user data.
Information may be processed by technical infrastructure or service providers acting on behalf of Lynx where this is necessary to operate a Lynx service that you have chosen to use.
Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
If you deliberately export information or use another application, such as your email application, to send information to another party, that transfer is initiated by you.
11. Data retention and deletion
Information stored locally by Lynx Connect remains on the device until it is removed through normal app-data management, removal of the application, or replacement of the relevant locally stored information.
Information voluntarily transmitted to Lynx for diagnostics or support is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant support, diagnostic, technical, security or legal purpose.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information held by Lynx in connection with Lynx Connect by contacting us at:
Where information must be retained for legal, regulatory, security or legitimate record-keeping purposes, Lynx may retain the minimum information necessary for the applicable period.
Lynx Connect does not currently require users to create a Lynx Connect user account.
12. Security
Lynx takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information handled through Lynx Connect.
Production services operated by Lynx that receive personal or diagnostic information are intended to use secure encrypted network connections.
Development or test versions of Lynx Connect may contain configuration tools intended for authorised testing. Users should only use service endpoints and configuration information supplied or approved by Lynx.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can provide absolute security.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Lynx Connect functionality, data handling practices or legal requirements change.
The effective date shown at the top of this page identifies the current version.
Material changes to the way Lynx Connect handles user information will be reflected in an updated version of this Privacy Policy.
